Lyreco

3.8 MW – Lyreco (UK) – Main Distribution Centre in Telford, Shropshire

In January 2016, FGEC completed the development of the largest, roof-mounted solar PV system to be installed in the UK in 2015 for Lyreco on its National Distribution Centre in Telford.

The 3.811 MWp array, which comprises made up of 13,860 solar panels, was installed on the gently-pitched roof of Lyreco’s building between October 2015 and January 2016 to primarily cut its carbon footprint and is one of only five rooftop systems in the UK to exceed a yearly output of 3.2 GWh.

This solar array covers an area equivalent to approximately six football pitches (just under 23,000 square metres). The system will generate approximately 3,200,000 kWh per year of electricity. The solar PV electricity will enable Lyreco to reduce its carbon footprint by approximately 1,700 tonnes of CO2 per year and to make significant savings on its electricity bills.

The PV system is financed, owned and operated by Addison Energy Limited and the green electricity generated is being supplied to Lyreco (UK) Limited under a 20 year Power Purchase Agreement.
